Launching of Jalan Bunga Hinai 27 August 2016

The newly extended section of Jalan Bunga Hinai joining Jalan Kaca Piring was officially launched on 27 August 2016 together with Penang's Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and JKR.

This newly built access road joining the previously cul-de-sac Jalan Bunga Hinai to Jalan Bunga Kaca Piring, next to SJK (C) Hun Bin is now ready for use. The extension of Jalan Bunga Hinai is expected to ease traffic congestion considerably in the area during peak hours.

Earthworks for the construction of the road began in 2014 and the road has just been completed. The extended portion of Jalan Bunga Hinai measures 150 metres long with costs totaling RM1.878 million borne by the Penang State Government. JKR has undertaken to maintain the road.

YB Teh would like to thank all parties involved in making this project a success, especially the SJK (C) Hun Bin authorities:

    1)      Headmaster Mr. Yao Ping Yoon

    2)      Board of Director Chairman Mr. Chew

    3)      Members of the school PIBG

YB Teh would also like to especially thank the Jabatan Kerja Raya for carrying out the construction works and future maintenance; and lastly most gracious thanks to the JKKK Jalan Gajah, temple committee members, previous squatters and residents in the area for their patience and support in making this community project a reality.

    Background

This project was initiated in 2009, during which a proposal for the access road was submitted by YB Teh Yee Cheu. Negotiations were then held between the school authorities, temple committee, squatters and the state government. The land which the road is built on was then handed over by the school to the state government. Within a timespan of less than five years, YB Teh Yee Cheu managed to resolve a 20-years long-standing problem by successfully negotiating with all parties for a workable solution.
