Mooncake Festival Celebrations at Tanjong Bunga

YB Teh Yee Cheu distributed mooncakes to the residents of Tanjong Bunga over a period of two days at several locations. Also known as the mid-autumn festival, Chinese celebrate this occasion on the 15th day of the 8th Chinese lunar month by eating mooncakes and taking children with lanterns for walks.

As people eat and enjoy each other's company under the full moon, older folks will often tell the romanticized story of how Chang Er became a goddess by drinking a bottle of elixir meant for her husband.

On 26 Sept, the people gathered at the Tanjong Bunga market hall to enjoy performances by the resident karaoke group. YB Teh distributed mooncakes and joined the children for a lantern parade.

The following morning, YB Teh went to the Tanjong Bunga market for a walkabout and also to distribute mooncakes to the traders there.

In the evening, JKKK Taman Seri Setia and PKS held their lantern festival parade at Lembah Permai. There was also a colouring competition for the children.
