Heritage Gallery & Cafe

The Jawi House Gallery showcases Malaysian and Asian heritage crafts, spanning traditions of thousands of years, from the pre-Islamic origins of gold, silver, copper and tin workshops in the Nusantara Southeast Asia region to the rich Muslim textile and crafts traditions of the Malay Peninsula, with influences from Persia, India and China. The bamboo and wooden craftsmanship of Malaysia’ indigenous minorities, the Orang Asli, which symbolically upholds their spiritual abodes in the dense rainforests, gives testimony to the ancient civilisations which built up the Malay archipelago and the diversity of origins and history of the Malaysian people. Enjoy the eclectic ambience of the Gallery, and pick up a piece or two of vintage or contemporary objet d’art which make memorable conversation pieces, corporate, family and friendship gifts and souvenirs.
