A Sumptuous Berbuka Puasa for the less fortunate by Hotel Royal Penang
Pertubuhan Kebajikan Insaniah Negeri Pulau Pinang together with Hotel Royal Penang hosted a Berbuka Puasa event for 180 persons consisting of OKU, single mothers, orphans from Rumah Jagaan and golden citizens at the Sri Pinang Ballroom. Guests were later treated to a variety of food from appetizer to main course to desserts sponsored by the Hotel. The guests were served personally by Puan Masni Shaik Dali, General Manager of Hotel Royal Penang and her team of Department Heads and staffs. The guests were also presented with Duit Raya from Puan Jamaliah Din on behalf of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Insaniah Negeri Pulau Pinang. In line with the Hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility, the event was held in conjunction with Ramadan. The occasion was organized so that the less fortunate will not be left out during the festive celebration. |
Ramadan Giveback With The Chefs @ Georgetown City Hotel, Penang
The Georgetown City Hotel puts forth a Cuisine, Hospitality Experience & Food Showcase for Underprivileged Children to Commemorate the Holy Month of Ramadan Holding true to the tradition of continuously giving back to those in need and in embracing the spirit of sharing and giving during the holy month of Ramadan, the management and associates of Georgetown City Hotel reached out to the local community by holding a special Iftar session for over 50 underprivileged children. The three homes from Balik Pulau area are Rumah Anak Kesayangan, Rumah Anak-anak Yatim Balik Pulau and Ahad Tafiz Darul Tahzhib – which provide love and care for orphans, abused, abandoned and underprivileged children, for a cosy get-together at the hotel in efforts to bring more cheer and laughter to them. This Ramadan get-together also saw the introduction of the CHEFS programme (Cuisine, Hospitality Experience & Food Showcase) by Berjaya Hotels & Resorts at Georgetown City Hotel which made the berbuka puasa session with the kids an even more special one. |
Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta
Date: 21 & 22 Feb 2015
Float above the Padang Polo in Penang on a hot air balloon to glimpse at George Town World Heritage Site from a different angle on 21and 22 Feb 2015. There will be endless celebrations during the ‘Fabulous February Fiesta’ in Penang as we kick off the ‘Year of Festivals’ in conjunction with Visit Penang Year 2015 (VPY2015). Brought to your doorstep and organised for the first time, the Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta will be the main highlight to kick start VPY2015. The RM650,000 event, sponsored by the state, will give visitors an opportunity to have a one-of-a-kind experience. There will be 15 hot air balloons over a 2-day festival and this event is open to all ages from 6am to 9pm at Padang Polo (Polo Ground) with balloon set-up at 7am and free-flying balloon shows that will awe you starting at 7.30am. The free-flying balloons will fly from Youth Park on both days. On both days, three tethered balloons are open for rides to the public at RM25 per person while a cold inflation balloon at RM5 per person will allow everyone to walk into the hot air balloon interior for photo opportunities. What to watch out for are the three special-shaped balloons that will amaze you to no end: Trump, Darth Vader and Humpty Dumpty. Besides the impressive hot air balloons, there will be family-friendly activities such as fun inflatable playgrounds, creative workshops, archery, photography competition, paramotor performance, remote plane/helicopter and more. If that’s not active enough, there’s even a fun run on 21 Feb (Saturday) at 7am from Padang Polo to Youth Park. Registration for this fun run is RM28 and get onto mypenang.gov.my/hab to get to the registration link plus details on the run. For ease of parking during the event days, shuttle buses will be provided by the state from three different points on the island to Padang Polo. Locations and bus schedule as below: $1A. Penang Bridge Half Marathon 2015
Date: 14 June 2015
The inaugural Penang Bridge Half Marathon 2015 will be held on 14 June 2015 at the Second Penang Bridge. This is a new event and will be dedicated to the Half Marathon (21km). There will be 3 categories, Men & Women Open (19 years old and above), Men & Women Veteran (45 years old and above) and Junior Boys & Girls (16-18 years old). The race will start at 4.30am for both Men & Women categories and will end 8.00am. The finishing time for the half marathon is 3 ½ hours. Runners who finished the run within the finishing time will receive a a finisher tee, a medal, and an e- certificate. (Hard copy certificate is available for RM5, including delivery) Early bird registrations are still ongoing with the price of RM70 for Open & Veteran categories and RM50 for Junior Boys & Girls until the numbers of participants reaches 5,000 or 31 Jan 2015 (whichever comes first) Early bird runners will also get a FREE race pack delivery within Malaysia. Penang World Music Festival 2015

The Penang World Music Festival (PWMF 2015) returns on the 11th & 12th of April 2015, this time at the iconic Esplanade in George Town, Penang. Sample world famous Penang delicacies, and take home CDs and souvenirs on sale at our festival grounds. The workshops starts from 2pm up to 5pm and the night concert is from 5pm onwards.
