A tree that deep in the forest. It makes a devastatingly loud crash, but no one is there to hear it. So how will we ever know it happened?

 

Just like the felled tree, we often see great ideas that are born and put into motion but then die off because it lacks the support it needs to sustain itself. Does this mean that the idea was bad? Perhaps it may still be lacking, but it is by no means a measure of its importance. Messages like how we need to defend the rights of the minority and the marginalised or that we have to protect the planet from being abused. How often have we seen initiatives that champion these causes start with a bang but then just sizzle right in front of our eyes? It is not that these causes are not important; it is simply because they are being drowned out by the deafening noise of the world around us.

 

An echo is the repeated or reverberated sounds that can still be heard even after the original sound has stopped. At IAM 10.0, as we are listening to the great ideas that are worth spreading or the interesting stories that are worth sharing, what we are actually doing is to form a collective voice that echoes a much larger one. A voice that once spoke of a much larger vision. The echoes that are generated will then be able to ignite our passion to stand for these noble causes. But most importantly, we will also be reminded that our individual voices were never just a simple echo or someone else's voice. It is our own that we may add onto another's or to speak as loud as we want!
