Penang Philharmonic Percussion Ensemble is a newly formed group by the percussion section of the Penang Philharmonic. The formation of this ensemble is to nurture the young percussionist in Penang and to provide a platform for performing percussion music. This is also partly one of the programme of the Penang Philharmonic Outreach Project, which we provide teaching and guidance to school children who are interested in playing percussion or to further improve their skills in percussion playing for those who are in high schools.

This group is formed by 4 dedicated percussionist trained locally by professionals during their high school days. Their passion and interest of playing good percussion music has always been their motive to perform to the Penangites who was not quite in touch with the percussion music. And now, under the guidance of Mr. James Bailey Emeritus professor of Percussion form the Elder Conservatorium of the University of Adelaide, Australia, the Penang Philharmonic Percussion would make their launching performance featuring percussion music from solo performance to an ensemble.
