A fire broke out at 3pm at a house in Jalan Chee Seng 11, Tanjong Bunga on 25 March 2014. Neighbours who spotted the fire alerted the fire department who arrived promptly at the scene. Meanwhile, Adam Loh's PPS team from Taman Sri Setia was already at the site to help save as many things as possible from the raging fire.

Charlemange Cheryl, an executive secretary with the Penang Bar Council, was out working when the fire started. She received a call from her sister regarding the fire and immediately rushed home.

"I have lost all my important documents," she lamented.

"This rented house is about 50 to 60 years old. I have changed the short circuit box three times and the wiring is very old too."

According the her police report, about 50 per cent of the house was badly burnt and the estimated loss is at RM20,000. All her electrical appliances were damaged during the fire department's rescue effort.Â

The fire, which consumed the back portion of the 5-room house also spread to the kitchen of her immediate neighbour's house.

At the time of this interview, Charlemange had received RM1000 from YB Teh Yee Cheu through the chairman of JKKK Taman Sri Setia, Koay Seng Lye. She had also received RM500 from the welfare department.

Charlemange, a 59 year old widow, independently maintains her own daily expenses.Â

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined by the fire department.
