YB Teh Yee Cheu hands out financial aid to fire victim

    A fire broke out at 3pm at a house in Jalan Chee Seng 11, Tanjong Bunga on 25 March 2014. Neighbours who spotted the fire alerted the fire department who arrived promptly at the scene. Meanwhile, Adam Loh's PPS team from Taman Sri Setia was already at the site to help save as many things as possible from the raging fire.

     
    Charlemange Cheryl, an executive secretary with the Penang Bar Council, was out working when the fire started. She received a call from her sister regarding the fire and immediately rushed home.
     
    "I have lost all my important documents," she lamented.
     
    "This rented house is about 50 to 60 years old. I have changed the short circuit box three times and the wiring is very old too."
     
    According the her police report, about 50 per cent of the house was badly burnt and the estimated loss is at RM20,000. All her electrical appliances were damaged during the fire department's rescue effort. 
     
    The fire, which consumed the back portion of the 5-room house also spread to the kitchen of her immediate neighbour's house.
     
    At the time of this interview, Charlemange had received RM1000 from YB Teh Yee Cheu through the chairman of JKKK Taman Sri Setia, Koay Seng Lye. She had also received RM500 from the welfare department.
     
    Charlemange, a 59 year old widow, independently maintains her own daily expenses. 
     
    The cause of the fire has not yet been determined by the fire department.
     
     
     
     
     

    CNY 2014 Open House at Sungai Emas

       

      A Chinese New Year Open House and distribution of aids were simultaneously held at Jalan Sungai Emas on 13 Feb 2014. JKKK Sungai Emas and JKKK Batu Ferringi jointly hosted the programme for the residents in the vicinity. Fifty people were recipients to two bags of 5kg rice and a bagful of foodstuff each while a buffet spread was catered for 250 people.

      YB Zairil graced the event with his presence.

      Yong Bee is the Chairman of JKKK Sungai Emas while Jamaluddin is the Chairman of JKKK Batu Ferringi.

      Cyclists from Shen Zhen visits Penang

        Cyclists from Shen Zhen visited Penang as part of an exchange programme to forge friendship between the two cities. The representative from Shen Zhen presented YB Chong Eng, Exco for Women, Youth and Sports with a bicycle. In return, the Penang State Government presented the cyclists with a framed painting.

        Last year, YB Teh Yee Cheu visited Shen Zhen with his cycling team on an official visit.

        Twenty nine cyclists arrived in Penang from KL last week and cycled round the Penang Island before joining in the Chap Goh Mei festival at the Esplanade. Ten of the cyclists are women.

        Laksamana Cycling Club jointly organised the event with the Penang State Government to host the university student cyclists for their stay here in Malaysia.

        Gotong-Royong Tiada Aedes, Tiada Denggi

          Sebuah gotong-royong diadakan pagi ini disekitar Taman Seri Setia Blok A - G. Aktiviti ini dianjurkan oleh Pusat Khidmat Adun Tanjung Bunga dengan kerjasama JKKK Taman Seri Setia dan penghuni-penghuni di kawasan itu.

          Tema 'Tiada Aedes Tiada Denggi' merupakan slogan yang tepat sekali kerana alam sekitar yang bersih tidak menggalakkan pembiakan nyamuk aedes. 

          Kakitangan MPPP juga turut menyertai program ini untuk membersihkan kawasan tersebut.

          YB Teh telah mengarahkan semua JKKK di Kadun Tanjung Bunga untuk mengadakan aktiviti gotong-royong dengan sekerap mungkin.

           

          Unleashing the Creativity in ME

            A three-day workshop was conducted at dewan JKKK Tanjong Bunga from 27 - 29 December 2013. Priscilla Ho from Creativity at Heart facilitated the workshop to help inspire creativity in children. Among the activities were games, role-play, drawing. At the end of the three-day workshop, YB Teh planted trees together with the children to remind them the importance of caring for the environment.
