SYNOPSIS
[ENGLISH] Random Chapters is a full-length contemporary dance production that lends a voice to individuals. Each one reveals their emotions experienced through an array of different circumstances. Like the many chapters in a book, dancers will pass through different moments in each chapter, suggesting stories through movements to connect with audiences. Each narrative thread is expressed through an Asian aesthetic body filled with cultural dynamism. Random Chapters was created almost a year ago through a unique collaboration between Maya Dance Theatre and several emerging dance makers from Southeast Asia and beyond. They are: Danang Pamungkas (Indonesia), Kavitha Krishnan (Singapore), Shahrin Johry (Singapore) and Raymond Liew (Germany/Malaysia); as well as award winning choreographer, Janis Brenner (USA) and Gil Kerer (Israel). Random Chapters has premiered in Indonesia, Thailand and recently USA, and will debut in London, UK in November 2015. Random Chapters will premier in Penang, Malaysia from 14-15 August 2015 at penangpac stage 2.
