Dialog Suara Wanita Daerah Timur Laut , Pulau Pinang [Bahasa Malaysia activity]

    Satu ciri utama sesebuah sistem demokrasi ialah penyertaan rakyat yang penuh dan bermakna dalam menyuarakan pandangan tentang isu-isu yang mempunyai impak ke atas kehidupan seharian merekan. 

    Adalah penting supaya suara rakyat biasa, khususnya di peringkat akar umbi  atau grassroots,diambil kira dalam setiap peringkat proses pengambilan keputusan (decision-making), mahupun di peringkat yang tertinggi, demi memastikan bahawa dasar-dasar yang dibuat oleh kerajaan atau pihak berkuasa tempatan mencerminkan realiti sosial komuniti setemat supaya penyelesaian yang strategik, efektif dan praktikal dapat dicapai. Wanita yang merupakan surirumah, ibu tunggal atau peniaga kecil di kampung tidak kurang penting suaranya mahupun haknya sebagai rakyat dan warganegara yang mampu dan bertanggungjawab untuk menyumbang kepada pembinaan negara dan masyarakat yang maju. 

    Dengan perspektif demikian, PWDC dengan kerjasama beberapa organisasi tempatan akan menganjurkan sebuah Dialog Suara Wanita Daerah Timur Laut. 

    Kami mendukung usaha kerajaan negeri Pulau Pinang dalam meningkatkan penyertaan wanita dalam semua bentuk pembangunan dari segi politik, ekonomi mahupun sosial.

    Mandarin Language Seminar: "WOMEN AS A FORCE FOR CHANGE & GENDER EQUALITY"

      Ms Echo Khor Hui Shan, full-time mother, homemaker, columnist and founder of Mama Bersih has pondered upon the same questions and she would like to share her answers and experience with you through our special Mandarin Language seminar below. Her topic is “Women As A Force For Change”.

      Also sharing her vast experience with us is YB Chong Eng, a highly respected woman leader and women’s rights advocate who will speak on “Gender Equality” and how women and men must work hand in hand as equal partners for a better society.

        Organized by PWDC in collaboration with the Due Diligence Project (www.duediligenceproject.org)

        'Due Diligence' is an important international principle and in the context of violence against women (VAW), denotes the State's obligation to take reasonable action to prevent, protect against, prosecute, punish and provide redress for VAW. Malaysia, as a State Party to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) has clear-cut legal and moral-obligations to address the issue of VAW at all levels of the public and private sphere. 

        Registration and participation in the Talk was by invitation only and was free of charge. Priority was given to those with a strong track record and/or experience working on VAW and other women’s issues.

            Venue: Dewan JKKK Simpang Empat Permatang Buluh, Kepala Batas , Seberang Perai Utara.

            Dialog anjuran bersama Perbadanan Pembangunan Wanita Negeri Pulau Pinang (Penang Women’s Development Corporation, PWDC) bersama dengan Persatuan Kebajikan Wanita MAWAR Pulau Pinang telah dihadiri lebih kurang 75 orang peserta dari kawasan sekitar Seberang Perai Utara. Matlamat Dialog ini adalah, pertamanya, untuk menyampaikan maklumat tentang program-program kerajaan negeri Pulau Pinang yang bertujuan untuk memerkasai dan meningkatkan kapasiti wanita; kedua, dan yang amat penting, untuk mendapatkan maklumbalas terperinci daripada kaum wanita setempat tentang isu-isu utama yang mereka hadapi dan akhirnya, untuk membantu proses perangkaan cadangan Pelan Tindakan Wanita setempat daerah Seberang Perai Utara.

            State Level 2013 International Women's Day (IWD) Celebration

              The State's theme is Penang Women Rising, while the international theme for the 2013 IWD is "The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum - The Modern Progressive World Needs Equality"

              Venue: Esplanade/Padang Kota Lama, George Town

              The programme is funded by the State and jointly organised by PWDC. There will booths with information on programmes to empower and promote gender equality, performances such as the " Billion Rising" dance, a community kompang group from Teluk Kumbar, line dancing and many more. Refreshments will be provided. All are invited to join.
