      Lean In @ Penang Forum is based on the bestselling book "Lean In" written by the COO of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg, which encourages women to "lean in", persevere and thrive in the face of challenges at the workplace. It also encourages men to support women in various ways throughout this process, and for women and men together to create a more balanced and equal society, including in terms of work-life balance for the family.

      The purpose of this Forum is to gather like-minded men and women, who are key industry players in the corporate sector, to exchange ideas and strategies towards achieving better conditions for women in the workplace through the  "Lean In" movement.

      The ‘Lean In @ Penang’ initiative aims to :

      1. Transform restrictive mind sets and gender stereotypes to allow women and men full choices in life without being hindered by gender stereotypes and norms;
      2. Promote greater work-life balance for women, men and their families through the creation of an empowering and enabling environment in Penang; and
      3. Inspire and empower women in Penang towards greater leadership and participation at the workplace and in the public sphere, thereby reducing the existing gender gaps across various sectors
