A meeting was held by Penang Bridge International Marathon committee with various government agencies early this week and a decision has been made to change the marathon venue and running routes back to the first Penang Bridge.

After the tragedy at the Second Bridge in June, a thorough investigation has been carried out. However the report from the investigations is still not out to certify the safety of the bridge. In view of the safety of the marathon runners, a unanimous decision was made to have this year’s marathon back at the first Penang Bridge. Furthermore, this will also prevent further delay in logistics and other preparations, such as route measurement, water stations and rescue team placement, and traffic control.

The starting point for the Penang Bridge International Marathon will remain at the outdoor carpark in front of Queensbay Mall, and the date remains at 17 November. To date, less than 30 slots are left for the Full Marathon category, 2,000 slots left for the Half Marathon category and 1,100 slots left for the 10km run category. Each category will close when it reaches its quota, or by 30 September 2013 whichever comes first.

For more information or to register, visit www.penangmarathon.gov.my or like the marathon Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/penangbridgemarathon.

Despite its reputation, Durian is an overwhelmingly popular fruit in Malaysia. Balik Pulau’s Durian is one of Malaysia’s best places for durian. The hilly slopes and temperate climate of Balik Pulau produces some of the best durians and durian hybrids in the country. Visitors as far as Singapore and Hong Kong will visit this otherwise sleepy town during durian season to sample the delicious, creamy Durian Balik Pulau. Some of the award winning durians in Balik Pulau are Ang Hae, Ang Bak, D16, D700 and of course the famous “Musang King” For more information, please call 016-411 0000
